• Increase recognition of diseases in the critically ill patient.
  • Improve the assessment and management of the critically ill patient including: ordering of appropriate diagnostic tests; triaging patients to appropriate level of care; prioritizing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
  • Improve the continuity of care for patients in the ICU and the IMCU.
  • Provide a focused experience in the management of the critical care patient and strengthen teaching/oversight/triage skills in relation to junior residents and nursing staff.
  • Provide a structured curriculum to bridge the gap between inpatient and outpatient management of complex adult medical issues.
